Zhen serves as a Senior Project Engineer with the JB&B Deep Carbon Reduction Group, a team focused on decarbonization in the built environment. She works closely with JB&B’s management team, including partners, associates, and project managers, to advance innovation and project delivery.
Zhen leads product development from ideation to deployment via evaluation methods such as the life cycle cost analysis, the carbon roadmap visualization model, and the time-of-use carbon emissions calculator. She also manages internal knowledge- and process-improvement projects, integrating industry updates and resources into existing workflows. With a unique combination of expertise in building system knowledge, data analytics and visualization, Zhen is proficient in extracting pertinent insights from large data sets and providing recommendations on how best to reach client and business objectives.
Her project experience includes LEED certification, ESG reporting, LL87 retro-commissioning, energy audits, benchmarking, energy procurement, and tenant submetering. Before joining JB&B, she had ten years’ experience in energy management and sustainability consulting with clients ranging from asset owners and property managers to large real estate investors.
Zhen earned her Bachelor of Engineering degree in Environmental Engineering from Tongji University, and Master of Environmental Studies in Sustainability from the University of Pennsylvania. She is a certified Project Management Professional with the Project Management Institute, a Certified Energy Manager of the Association of Energy Engineers, and a LEED Accredited Professional in Operations and Maintenance.
Fun Fact: Zhen has a passion for discovering new hobbies and taking on creative home projects—and for doing so as sustainably as possible. On a recent project, she converted old vinyl window blinds into reusable items such as garden planters, soap holders and laundry hampers. And when it comes to holiday gift-giving, her favorite choice is solar-powered electronic devices.
